Deeply concerned with the all pervading tension and sense of uneasiness in the State in the wake of the agreement reached between the NSCN-IM and Government of India recently and the Kuki 'ancestral' land issue, All Manipur Christian Organisation has appealed the people for peace and non-violence.
AMCO strongly feels the need for peace and harmony in the State.
There is so much of 'trust deficit' and emotional 'disintegration' amongst various communities.
All must resolve the various issues through peaceful talks.
There could be no progress but only destruction if the prevailing situation continues, said AMCO in a statement today.
All civil society organisations in the State should refrain from calling bandhs and strikes and instead adopt other peaceful and constructive approaches to raise grievances so that normalcy in the State is not paralysed, it said.
AMCO also appealed the Centre and the State Government to ensure peaceful coexistence in the State.
All sections of people must avoid spreading rumours, false messages and videos on social media and other channels which may promote conflict and violence.
