Tourism festival concludes

Imphal, November 30 2011: The 10-day long Manipur Sangai Festival, 2011 organised by Department of Tourism, government of Manipur at Hafta Kangjeibung since November 21 concluded today.

Speaking at the concluding function held at BOAT as Chief Guest, Governor Gurbachan Jagat reiterated that Manipur is a land with lot of potential for development in tourism sector.

So, tapping this potential would help in generating more income and employment opportunities.

Minister of Tourism TN Haokip presided over the function, which was also attended by Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly I Hemochandra, Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing, Opposition Leader Radhabinod Koijam, MPCC President Gaikhangam, Chairman of State Minorities Commission A Halim Chowdhury, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industries O Nabakishore, President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) A Mobi, Managing Director of Babina Hospitality Industries Dr Th Dhaballi and Chairman of Shija Hospital and Research Institute Dr Kh Palin as Guests of Honour.

At the occasion, artistes of Ima Leishemba Cultural Institute, Rythms of Manipur, Surindra Rajabhat Univrsity (Thailand), FAM, CYCA, etc presented dances, songs and fashion parade.
