Month-long observance of World Red Cross Day kicks off

The month-long observance of World Red Cross Day 2024 organised by Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch kicked off today at its office hall in MG Avenue, Imphal.
Additionally, a discourse on "Red Cross Activities in the present situation of the State" was also held.
The inaugural function was attended by social scientist Dr IS Konthoujam, social activist Dr Swarankumar Thingbaijam and IRCS Manipur State Branch chairman Narendra Ningomba as presidium members.
Social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and social activist Dr Kiran Yendrembam also took part in the function as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr IS Konthoujam said that helping others is an act of kindness and a form of worship when it is done with the right motive without any hidden agenda behind the good deed.
Dr Dhanabir Laishram said everyone should acknowledge and appreciate the humanitarian acts carried out by IRCS Manipur State Branch during the time of natural & man-made disasters over the years.
Dr Kiran Yendrembam highlighted the significant roles played by IRCS during the COVID-19 pandemic and added that the society has also been organising blood donation camps to address the shortage of blood in the State and save innocent lives.
IRCS Manipur State Branch secretary, A Nabachandra shared that preparations have been made to conduct various activities such as First Aid Training, Voluntary Blood Donation Camps, Awareness Programmes, Leaders Meet and Painting/Quiz/Folk Song Competitions during the month-long observance of World Red Cross Day.
