Public meeting demands death penalty

Imphal, June 07 2015 : A public meeting held at Heirok has demanded death penalty for those involved in the killing of N Rebika today.

Local bodies of Heirok Part- II along with the JAC Against (Rape) Victim of N Rebika and Pradhan members of the area held a joint meeting where the above demand was raised.

The meeting also resolved to demand the police station concerned to arrest the accused within two days and frame charge sheet within a 20 days, the constitution of a special Court which could conduct the trial on a day-to-day basis within 25 days, amendment of criminal law in the name of Rebika to curb rape incidents in the future and the setting up of a crime free memorial park at Heirok.

The joint meeting also resolved to carry out various forms of agitation in case the State Government fails to address their demands within two days.

Meanwhile the JAC along with the people has resolved not to demand any form of ex-gratia from the State Govt for the victim.
