Kid street gangs create nuisance, 5 detained

Ukhrul, October 05 2017:
At least eight boys were pulled up by Ukhrul police and the public of Ukhrul at different locations in two days at Ukhrul town for causing unnecessary public nuisance .
Morning walk turned out to be nightmares for many pre-dawn morning walkers in Ukhrul town as a group of boys numering as many as 50-70 between the age group of 14-20 years, equipped with cable wire, iron rod or other lethal weapons roamed wild frequently with the ulterior motive to provoke fight at isolated areas .
The gang members did not spare anyone whether girls or boys and while the boys were thrashed and beaten to pulp the girls were subjected to lewd remakrs with some even molested and ragged in secluded areas .

Some women vendors of Ukhrul have also complained about theft and damage to their shops .
Acting on the various complaints that had come in, Ukhrul police hauled up five children in the wee hours of yesterday .
In a separate incident, three persons were also caught by the local youth for bullying the younger ones during morning walk .
The hauled up kids were found carrying iron rods, cable wires and chilly powder in their possession .
All the detained boys are under aged/juveniles .
According to an SI of Ukhrul police, Marchang, a case has been registered against them .
Five of them have been sent to observation home Takyel Imphal, today after they were produced before the Court after their arrest and the JJB Ukhrul, passed an order to keep the five juveniles at the Observation Home at Takyel regarding the case.
