Imphal, June 04 2015 :
JD(U) Manipur unit strongly condemned BJP and Congress for taking the help of militant outfits to garner more votes in the ADC elections that was conducted on June 1 .
This allegation was made by JD(U) state president M Tombi in a press meet held at the party office, Babupara.
He added that both the state government and the Central government had assured and boasted of a 'free and fair' poll, however, the manner in which the poll was conducted was not free and fair and was embroiled in many controversies and anti-social incidents.
He further added that there was wide gap and miscommunication between the hill area people and the elected representatives of the last ADC election as the elected members distanced themselves from their people by residing themselves at Chingmeirong area of Imphal.
This time too, Tombi predicted that the gap will still persists between the members and the people as the hopes and aspirations of the hill people will be overlooked by the Congress-led State government and BJP-led Central government.
Regarding the alleged internal allegiance of BJP and NPF, Tombi said that this will be similar to BJP supporting the plan to dismantle to territorial integrity of Manipur and will result in a sorry state of affair.
He appealed to the Manipuri people to stay alert of this situation and stand up against any forces that may threaten the interests of the state.
On the other hand, M Tombi also condemned the incident in which Congress workers forced the voters to wind up voting at 11 am, much before the actual poll closing time at 42/8 Nambasi and 24/7 K Ashang Khullen of Pungyar constituency.
When the voters pleaded for repoll to the RO concerned, it was taken with deaf ears and instead, the Election Commission has planned to organise re-poll at 24/6 Kangkhum Primary School where the poll was conducted smoothly.
He blamed that such incidents clearly shows that Congress is trying to win and come into power by any means.
JD (U) general secretary also condemned the incident in which cadres of one Kuki UG assaulted voters for not giving their votes in favour of Congress.
He appealed the party concerned not to repeat such incidents and demanded the state government and the State Election Commission to conduct the re-poll of June 6 in a free and peaceful manner.
