"Traffic Regulation" project takes off Speed Gun debuts in Manipur

A week after a traffic regulation project was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Jacinta Lazarus in the presence of K Kabib, IPS, Superintendent of Police and civil bodies of the district, the police in different areas have installed traffic boards, signal poles, speed sign boards and instruction boards.
Police teams in different areas including Mao-gate, Tadubi, Senapati DHQs, Kangpokpi, Sapormeina have almost completed the installation of such boards, informed a police source.
Interestingly, the said project will also make use of 'Speed Guns' at Senapati, which is also the first time in Manipur, to regulate speeding vehicles in Senapati district.
Speed Guns have been issued to the OCs of Senapati and Kangpokpi as well as the Traffic OC and Traffic police.
Senapati has become the first district in the State to use speed gun equipment.
The DC while urging the public to extend cooperation said that lack of knowledge of the rules and regulations is not an excuse.
The DC also invited feedbacks, suggestions and innovative ideas to further improve the traffic system.
SP K Kabib, IPS also shared the problems faced in regulating traffic in the district.
"Due to traffic irregularities, numerous valuable lives have been lost", the SP said.
"Within a week the boards will be erected along NH-2 from Mao to Motbung," he added.
