Transfer of headmaster irks locals

The transfer of the newly posted regular headmaster of Eureka High School, Khongjom Sapam, Thoubal district, has angered the local meira paibis, guardians and Thoubal students' organisations, reports our correspondent.
A joint meeting was held today at Eureka school campus where members of local meira paibis, guardians and representatives of Thoubal students' organisations attended and discussed the course of action to be taken in protest against the transfer of the headmaster to another school .
It may be noted that Eureka school had been functioning without a regular headmaster for close to 7 years.
Following an order issued by Deputy Secretary, Education (S) on January 15, 2015, Th Kunjeswor was posted as the regular headmaster of the school.
More than 200 students were admitted in the school after that.
However, on February 17, Th Kunjeswor was transferred to Moijing High School.
Eureka School Students' Union general secretary N Sanathoi said classes have been boycotted since March 13 to condemn the move of the State Government regarding the matter.
He further said that rigorous agitation would be initiated in case the department concerned fails to provide a regular headmaster by March 25 .
Members of DESAM, Thoubal district council and AMSU, Thoubal branch who were also present at the meeting assured to provide co-operation in all the course of action to be taken up by Eureka School Students' Union.
