TKLI's ultimatum in hit and run case

Imphal, January 14 2013:
Alleging that the Imphal West police have sidelined the gravity of the crime of a man being killed in a hit and run case by a VIP vehicle (Scorpio White) on December 18 last year, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Imphal has submitted an ultimatum to the Chief Minister for necessary action.
Demanding action, the student body said that in the night of December 18 last year at about 8.15, Awungshi Nganaongai was knocked down by a VIP vehicle complete with siren and signal light near RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya Institute, North AOC.
The man succumbed to his injuries on December 19 at Raj Poly Clinic.
The VIP along with the escort team evaded arrest, ably supported by the security personnel on duty at Kangla gate, alleged TKLI and added that even though an FIR was lodged at Imphal West police station on the day of the accident, no action has been taken up.
Alleging that the negligence is due to the fact that the deceased belonged to a minority community, the student body demanded adequate compensation to the victim, who was the Head Master of a Government institution by extending ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs within ten days from January 15 .
The student body also demanded a job to the nearest kin as per the qualification and arrest the culprit VIP as well as punish the IRB personnel on duty at Kangla gate when the accident took place.
