Blockade called on Ngarian Imphal road

Imphal, July 05 2015 : Taking strong exception against the failure of the State Government to repair the road from Yairipok Laimanai to Azad Higher Secondary School, local clubs and organisations will launch an indefinite blockade along Ngarian-Imphal road from July 6 .

A joint statement issued by Laimanai Youth Club, Yairipok (LYCY), Top-Chingtha Youth Progressive Organisation (TYPO), Sacrifice Youth Development Organisation (SYDO), Tulihal Awang Leikai Yairipok and Nongpok Ningthou Youth Association (NNYA), Top Chingtha, said that road leading from Laimanai to Azad Higher Secondary School is not even a kilometre long.

However, locals particularly students have been facing great difficulty in commuting during rainy season.

Therefore, the people in the area have appealed repeatedly to the department concerned for many years to repair the road stretch.

Since their numerous demands have failed to yield positive result, local clubs and organisations have resolved to block Ngarian-Imphal road indefinitely.

However, medical, electricity, water supply departments, educational institutions, media and religious activities will be exempted from the blockade.
