International Film Festival from Jan 11

Including manipur's lone entry entitled 'Sangai: The Dancing Deer of Manipur', 20 films and documentaries by international film-makers would be screened during the five-day 2nd Replay International Film Festival from January 11 at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
speaking to media persons about the forthcoming film festival at the Palace Compound preview theatre of Manipur Film Development Corporation Limited its Managing Director Dr K Sobita Devi the second edition of the festival would be inaugurated by the Governor Gurbachan Jagat.
Stating that the film on Sangai would be screened on the last day of the festival, the Managing Director highlighted that the documentary production would be a tribute to noted writer (Late) MK Binodini Devi.
Based on Binodini's experimental ballet the said film was awarded with the British Film Institute's Outstanding Film of the Year Award in 1989, Dr Sobita recounted.
Conveying that the last day of the festival will also feature a talk by noted film-maker Aribam Syam Sharma in his collaborations with MK Binodini Devi, she also maintained that the other films to be screened during five-day event would be by film-makers from Indonesia, Japan and the United States of America.
Two delegates each from Indonesia and USA would also been arriving here for the event, informed the Managing Director while explaining that Replay International Film festival is an event to showcase sports and cultural performances by the people of Manipur.
It is a digital festival of narrative, documentary and experimental films aimed at presenting to the people of Manipur selected films from among various international film festivals.
There would be no entry fee, she added.
