MUA files complaint against KNA cadres for allegedly beating villagers

The Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) has filed a complaint at the Tengnoupal Police Station against KNA cadres for allegedly beating members of a family at Khudei Loikong village, Tengnoupal district.
In a statement, the Maring Uparap Assembly said that the incident happened on December 13 when 10-15 alleged KNA cadres in uniform with arms entered the house of DS Leithil (Maring), s/o (L) Merung of Khudei Loikong village and started beating him without any reason.
The victim's brother Medun and their mother Ds Temui requested the cadres not to assault Leithil, but they started beating them also.
The villagers couldn't intervene as the alleged KNA cadres blank fired three live rounds, said the complaint filed by the Maring Uparap Assembly.
Leithil was seriously injured but they were forbidden to take him to hospital by the cadres.
When they tried to evacuate him to hospital, the alleged KNA cadres intercepted and whisked him away with them at their camp - Hermon Camp, Chelep village, Tengnoupal.
Family members later brought him back home and he was taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital by the Maring Uparap Assembly.
His condition is critical and is currently undergoing treatment.
This is not the first time alleged KNA cadres have assaulted the villagers, claimed the Maring Uparap Assembly in its complaint to the police mentioning that several others including the village Chairman Ds Mophun and village secretary MK Korung, s/o MK Angdun were beaten severely by alleged KNA cadres on October 19 .
