Justice MV Muralidaran inaugurates LADCS office

Justice MV Muralidaran, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur cum Patron-in-Chief, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), today inaugurated the office of Legal Aid Defense Counsel System (LADCS), Justice Clock and Help Desk for e-filing at District and Sessions Court Complex, Thoubal.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Justice A Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur and executive chairman MASLSA; Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge High Court of Manipur and chairperson High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC); Ojesh Mutum, member secretary MASLSA; Sonykumar Nepram, OSD, MASLSA; Samom Ibjen, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal; Masana E Panmei, CJM cum secretary DLSA Thoubal; Sadananda Sorokhaibam, additional member secretary MASLSA; Shubham Vashist, Joint Registrar, High Court of Manipur, said a release issued by MASLSA.

Addressing the gathering, Justice A Bimol Singh stated that LADCS aims to provide free legal aid and assistance to poor & needy individuals in all criminal matters.
He shared that the Justice Clock was displayed at the Court premises to showcase daily information regarding the disposal and pendency of cases in District and Subordinate Courts, spreading legal awareness and information about various e-Courts services for the benefit of the litigants and public.
Chief/Deputy/Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsels along with president and executive members of Thoubal District Bar Association; advocates; staff of MASLSA and DLSA Thoubal also took part in the event.
It may be mentioned that LADCS is a scheme under National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), to provide free legal aid to the poor needy people facing criminal cases to defend themselves w.r.t representation/conducting trial and appeals including all miscellaneous work in all criminal matters.
