Imphal, July 01 2011:
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Internees Association (RIA) has warned the RIMS authority that it will go on indefinite cease work strike from July 3 if their stipend is not hiked by July 2 .
RIA in a press release said, the current stipend is so meagre to fulfil the basic needs of day to day life as the prices of all the commodities have increased all over the country with the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission.
It added that the salary of the Junior Residents of the institute has soared from Rs 10, 000 in mid thirties to Rs 40, 000 whereas the stipend of internees has hardly climbed from Rs 5000 to Rs 8900 .
Saying that it might be true that internees at RIMS are being paid at par with other Central institutes like JIPMER, Pondicherry and AIIMS, New Delhi, RIA questioned whether the work environment, work conditions, demands of the hospital and economic demands in Imphal are same with Pondicherry and New Delhi.
