The Pearl Jubilee of United Zou Organisation (UZO), Moreh was celebrated with pomp and show at Galngam Lentol, Moreh today.
The 30th year commemoration programme was graced by IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip; GS Haupu Zou, Singat MLA; and Tengnoupal MLA D Korungthang as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively while Manglenthang Zou, president of UZO General Headquarters was the chief host.
Speaking at the occasion, Ngamthang Haokip called upon the people of the State as well as Moreh denizens for peace and sanity.
Maintaining that Moreh is inhabited different communities, the IFCD Minister urged the inhabitants to shun narrow communal mindset and live in peace so that all round development of the border town is facilitated.
MLA D Korungthang urged the Zou community to uphold their dignity.
While saying that though the tribe is a small one population wise, he urged the community to produce and groom efficient leaders to lead the State.
Showcasing of various cultural items of the State as well as neighbouring Myanmar and presentation of enthralling numbers by popular Manipuri artists like Sadananda and Utam marked the noon programme.
The chief guest also unveiled a Pearl Jubilee commemoration stone while the D Korungthang released a souvenir.
The Pearl Nite was graced by MLA T Mangibabu; Chinlunthang Zou, ST Nunghlung Victor, LK Haokip, IGP as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
The chief host of the night programme was GS Haupu Zou, MLA.
