WLCA demands action

Western Lamkang Chiefs Association (WLCA) has demanded action against the 22 Assam Rifles team, who have allegedly beaten up ADC election candidate Daniel Lamkang at Kakching Khunou on May 28 night.
In a statement, WLCA said that an AR team led by a Major initially detained him at Waikhong for an hour.
After the security team let him go, Daniel returned to his house at Leingangching, the statement said.
However, he was stopped again by another AR team at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai for frisking.
Daniel was not only beaten up but also threatened to be shot by a Manipuri speaking personnel although he identified himself as a candidate of ADC election, the statement alleged.
The association expressed concern over maintaining silence by the State Government and State Election Commission regarding the incident
till today.
Saying that Daniel could not actively take part in electioneering after the incident, the statement said that he is still undergoing treatment.
The association also demanded that counting of votes for ADC election be postponed till action is taken against the AR team.
The association further demanded that a Court Martial be conducted against the AR team and the army Major for their misconduct.
The statement further alleged that the said army Major and Adjutant of the Unit called up Daniel and asked him not to complain to any authority about the incident.
