Japanese official delegation in Manipur

Imphal, July 31 2011:
A two member Japanese official delegation led by Minister Naoki Ito, and First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in India, Koju Matsubayashi visited Manipur on a three-day official tour to Manipur.
The team took a first hand account of the current situation of the State for undertaking future programmes in the State.
The tour programme was hosted by Indo-Japan Friendship Association, Manipur, said a press release.
On the first day, the delegation met Chief Minister O Ibobi and extended their gratitude for the donations made by the people of Manipur for tsunami and earthquake affected people of Japan.
They also expressed that the Government of Japan and its people would extend all possible assistance to the people of Manipur wherever required.
The delegation met the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police and discussed different issues on law and order situation of Manipur in the line of the projects undertaken by the Japanese Government.
The delegation called on the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University and discussed on possible assistance in opening of Japanese Language Department in the University from the next academic session.
The delegation also held discussion with the members of the Indo Japan Friendship Association and received a memorandum from the association for establishment of a Japan Information Centre at Imphal, a project for Translation of books into Manipuri from Japanese vice versa and maintenance of the India Peace Memorial at Lotpaching.
The delegation concluded their tour by visiting INA museum at Moirang and a memorial service at the India Peace Memorial at Lotpaching, the press release added.
