Thoubal, July 05 2013 :
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi was literally boiling with anger when he saw the condition of 100-bedded Thoubal District Hospital which he himself inaugurated on December 24, 2011 amid much elan and expectations.
The Chief Minister was returning from a religious function of a relative at Wangjing when he suddenly decided to pay a surprise visit to Thoubal District Hospital.
Ibobi was infuriated on seeing absence of hospital staff to the full strength, the stench and garbage piled up at every corner and costly equipment abandoned like as if they were worthless.
On seeing the sorry state of affairs at the hospital, the Chief Minister made it clear that some officials must go on transfer to far off places.

Ibobi was accompanied by Thoubal DC T Ranjit, SP Dr AK Jhaljit and other ranking officials of the district during his surprise visit to the hospital.
Notably, the DC sensing the possibility of the Chief Minister coming to the hospital for a surprise visit asked the concerned Chief Medical Officer as well as the hospital Superintendent on July 2 to submit status report of the hospital ahead of the district level officers' meeting scheduled on July 4 .
The DC's intimation also mentioned that the hospital was not functioning properly and there have been many complaints from the public against the hospital.
