70 gold medallists given jobs, 52 await

Altogether 70 sports persons of the State who won gold medals in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and National Games have been given Government jobs but 52 other gold medallists could not be absorbed in Government departments till date, Chief Minister O Ibobi who is also in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS) stated on the floor of the House today.
Financial incentives which should be given to medal winners have not been distributed from 2011 till 2015.Nonetheless, the State Government has been working to disburse the pending amount from the next Financial Year, Ibobi informed the House in his response to a query raised by MLA Th Bishwajit.
There is the Manipur State Sports Policy but so far no fund has been sanctioned for development of sports infrastructure in the State under the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Khud Abhiyan.
Among the women SIs recruited in Manipur Police against sports quota, Vigilance Department recommended dismissal of five SIs on the ground that the certificates they submitted were forged one, stated Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam who is also in charge of Home Department.
However, the five SIs have not been dismissed till date as the High Court issued a directive to maintain status quo until further order is issued, Gaikhangam stated while replying to a question raised by L Ibomcha.
Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai stated that the State Government received Rs 16,65,300 as flexi fund from the Ministry of Women and Child Development under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) .
Replying to Kh Joykishan, Mirabai said that a meeting of the State Advisory Board was held on June 9 last year with the Principal Secretary (Social Welfare) in the chair as a part of the initiative to set up Juvenile Justice Fund.
Subsequent, a proposal was submitted to the Finance Department seeking separate head of account in the annual budget.
Altogether 13 NGOs applied for opening shelter homes in Imphal East, Chandel and Ukhrul districts under ICPS.
Out of them, two NGOs were selected for Chandel and one each for Imphal East and Ukhrul.
Replying to a query put up by Ksh Biren, CAF&PD Minister M Okendro stated that plans are afoot to start construction of an FCI godown at Sawombung, Imphal East district within the next two months.
The State's monthly rice allocation is 12,178 tonnes and the National Food Security Act would be implemented in the State from April 1 .
The monthly wheat allocation is 2891 tonnes.
Replying to a question put up by K Sarat, Revenue Minister Th Debendra informed that 140 land owners of the valley districts who have been affected by Tupul-Imphal railway project have been given compensation.
With the exception of urgent works, contractors are not allowed to execute contract works without administrative approval, expenditure sanction and work orders, Chief Minister O Ibobi clarified in response to a query raised by Joykishan.
For taking border area development programmes at Moreh, Rs 15.77 crore has been deposited with MDS, Ibobi who also holds Planning portfolio informed the House while replying to L Ibomcha.
Replying to another question raised by Th Bishwajit, Ibobi tabled a detail report which gave a list of activities, sources of funds and the funds utilized so far by Art and Culture Department.
