Again, Kuki militants attack Meitei villages

Kuki militants attacked several Meitei villages at multiple locations but there is no report of any casualty so far.
Kuki militants once again targeted Koutruk village in Imphal West district under Lamsang police station using sophisticated weapons including bombs.
Kuki militants opened heavy fire toward Koutruk from the direction of Harao-thel, Kangpokpi district at around 8.10 pm today.
Apart from innumerable rounds of bullets, Kuki militants have fired eight bombs till the time of filing this report.
Although there is no report of casualty in the attack, a tense situation has gripped the area, sources informed.
Earlier this morning, Kuki militants fired several rounds of bullets toward Meitei villages located in the periphery of Lamlai Assembly Constituency and Saikul Assembly Constituency under Yaingangpokpi police station.
Using sophisticated wea-pons, Kuki militants fired around 50 rounds of bullet toward Sanasabi village from Awang Natum hill range on Urangpat side at around 2.30 am, said the sources.
Later at around 7 am, Kuki militants again fired some rounds of bullets toward Meitei villages at Thamnapokpi and Sabung-khok from Tuichin, Samu- song and Phaimol Kuki villages, said the sources.
Meitei village volunteers and security personnel did not fire back a single bullet.
There is no report of any injury on the side of the village volunteers and the security personnel.
On learning about the attack, police personnel of Yaingangpokpi and Central forces rushed to the spot and patrolled the area to bring the situation under control, the sources said.
Kuki militants launched another round of attack toward nearby Meitei villages from Sangaren Phaimol village.
This time, village volunteers retaliated resulting in a heavy exchange of fire.
The gun battle has been raging till the time of filing this report, the sources added.
