CM strikes out with 'Is War on Drugs' wrong poser
BJP stands for a united Manipur : Biren

Imphal, December 01 2023: While claiming that the Government has been working at its best level to ensure harmony and peaceful co-existence among all the communities who have been living together since ages, Chief Minister N Biren has assured that BJP will continue to work for a united Manipur.

Chief Minister N Biren and some of his Ministers who went to Delhi returned to Imphal today.

On his return from New Delhi, a warm reception function was held at BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Nityaipat Chuthek.

Speaking at the gathering where many Ministers, MLAs and BJP leaders were present, N Biren stated that all BJP workers must work with dedication to promote unity and peaceful co-existence among all communities which have been living together in Manipur since ages, he exhorted.

BJP would continue to work for a peaceful and united Manipur, he said.

There is no political party other than BJP which would save the community/Nation that is being threatened with complete annihilation, Biren claimed.

"We were living in a State whose long borders were left unfenced except for a very short stretch.

In addition to the unfenced borders, there was a free movement regime under which people from either side of the Indo-Myanmar border could travel up to 15/16 Kms without any documents", he said.

Informing that the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister have given consent to construction of border fence for a length of 100 Kms out of the total 400 Kms of international border shared between India (Manipur) and Myanmar, the Chief Minister said that the free movement regime has also been cancelled.

Identification of illegal immigrants has already started through capturing of biometric data including eye scan.

The large-scale violence was ignited for such good deeds of the Government, he said.

He went on to ask, "Will anybody say BJP is working in the interest of the people or otherwise?" .

He further asked why anybody should fear those elements who are opposed to BJP.

"BJP Central leaders, after considering the interest of our people, lifted Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from most parts of the valley and some hill areas", Biren said.

He also mentioned the renaming of Mount Harriet in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as Mount Manipur.

A big war ship named after Imphal was also launched a few days back, he said.

Claiming that BJP always works for the welfare of the Nation and never indulge in wrongdoings, N Biren asked if identification of illegal immigrants who are overwhelming the indigenous people is wrong.

He went on to ask, "Is the War on Drugs aimed at rescuing the society from the menace of drugs wrong ? Is the initiative aimed at checking extensive poppy cultivation which is done after massive deforestation wrong ?" .

Alluding to the peace agreement signed at New Delhi recently, N Biren said that feelers have been sent to bring some other groups to the path of peace.

He also appealed to every section of people to support every initiative aimed at bringing peace in Manipur.

As a mark of gratitude to all the commendable works done by BJP Central leaders for the people of Manipur, BJP Manipur Pradesh should give two MPs to the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

"We must give two MPs to the party in order to ensure that Narendra Modi is re-elected as the Prime Minister of India.

BJP should work free without any sense of fear", Biren said.

As dialogues have been initiated, peace would return soon to the State, the Chief Minister stated without elaborating.
