1st annual meeting cum election of KuRF held

Prof Dr TT Haokip (NEHU), Dr J Doungel (Mizoram University) and Dr Robert Thongkholal (Presidency University, Kolkata) have been elected as the president, vice president and general secretary respectively of the Kuki Research Forum (KuRF) for the term 2015-17 .
The 1st annual meeting cum executive election of the KuRF executive members was held for the first time on Dec 29 at TRI hall, Imphal after its official establishment in 2009 and principally adopting its constitution at KSO Ghqs general assembly at M Songgel village in January 2014 .

According to a statement, the meeting began with an invocation from Pastor ST Akai Vaiphei, followed by a welcome address from the KuRF coordinator, Dr Paolenthang Khongsai.
Various dignitaries from Kuki civil organizations including Khaimang Chongloi, general secretary, Kuki Inpi Manipur; Paotinthang Lupheng, president KSO Ghqs; Dr T Lunkim, chairman, Kuki Organisation for Human Rights, delivered words of felicitation and encouragement.
For its first contribution and achievement towards academic excellence, a book titled "Political and Economic History of the Kukis in Manipur" authored by Dr Seikhohao Kipgen, Senior Assistant Professor, Manipur College, was released by Prof TT Haokip with a dedication prayer from Dr T Lunkim.
Prof TT Haokip while releasing the book exhorted young scholars to write and show up the truth/facts about the contributions of the Kukis towards peace and harmony, and have equal share like other communities in Manipur and elsewhere.
With a vote-of-thanks from the coordinator, Lamtinthang Haokip, the meeting ended with words of felicitation, encouragement and blessing prayer for the 1st executive member of the forum by Rev S Prim Vaiphei, it added.
