Two handymen killed as...Stationary bus catches fire

Imphal, March 27 2012:
Two handymen died after they sustained severe burn injuries as the bus they were sleeping in caught fire.
Ayangleima, the bus which operates passenger service between Imphal and Churachandpur was parked at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai on Tiddim Road.
The vehicle bearing registration number MN 01/1174 caught fire at around 12.30 am today.
Ningthoujam Mangal alias Naobi (18) of Wangoo Laiphrakpam Leikai and Abung alias Boy (19) of Singhat Churachandpur district received serious burn injuries in the incident.
Mangal died on the way to hospital while Abung succumbed to injuries at around 3.30 pm at RIMS today.
Bus owner Adhikarimayum Dhanabir Sharma has lodged a complaint at Imphal police station in connection with the incident.

In his complaint, Dhanabir expressed suspicion that unknown persons might have set the bus aflame.
Meanwhile, following an understanding arrived with the Principal Secretary Transport, Joint Tiddim Road Bus Owner's Association, Manipur has suspended its bandh called along Tiddim Road.
The association also condemned burning down of a passenger bus at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in which two handy men died.
