One killed in shoot-out

Imphal, March 22 2012:
A suspected UG cadre has been slain in a reported encounter with a combined team of security forces at Wangoo Sabal under Kumbi police station of Bishnupur district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Khangembam Naocha (28) s/o late Borsingh of Wangoo Naodakhong.
Until yesterday, he was away from home working as a mason at Saikul.
He came back last afternoon.
Before reaching his home, Naocha went to a tea stall located at Wangoo Sabal Mamang Leikai with some of his friends.
At about 8.30 pm, Naocha went to the house of one Pukhrambam Inaokhoibi (30) located behind the hotel to demand money indebted to Inaokhoibi.
Earlier, Naocha was in the timber trade.
At that time, Inaokhoibi and his elder brought bought some timber from Naocha on credit.
It was this money that Naocha demanded last night.
Moments later, Naocha was shot dead by security forces at the courtyard of Inaokhoibi, claimed the bereaved family members.
However, police maintained that Naocha was killed in an encounter with a combined team of Bishnupur commandos and troops of 33 Assam Rifles, adding that one pistol was recovered from his possession.
In 2002, Naocha was a member of the banned UNLF.
He was arrested by Bishnupur commandos in 2006 and was lodged in jail for sometime.
He joined the mainstream after his release from jail.
Naocha's lifeless body was handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS today.
