Dimapur, July 18 2017:
The Naga People's Front (NPF) has resolved to sever ties with the BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
This resolution was adopted at the emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council, central office bearers, division presidents and frontal organisation office bearers of the Naga People's Front in Kohima this evening .
According to the NPF, while "lamenting that the BJP has decided to foment instability in the State for its own selfish ends" in the near future, the NPF has resolved to sever ties with the National party, BJP and the NDA .
The NPF also said that, observing the "undue haste" and favour shown by the Governor of Nagaland towards the dissident legislators, the NPF party questioned the neutrality and the apolitical stand of the Governor, and "is of the considered opinion that the Governor has misused, abused and tarnished Raj Bhawan to favour rebellion within the NPF party to enhance the political fortunes of the BJP in Nagaland" .
In this connection, the NPF said it has resolved to approach the President of India to recall the Governor of Nagaland immediately so that the sanctity of the gubernatorial office in the State is maintained in future .
"Deliberating at length on how legislators panicked when the Chief Minister Dr Shurhozelie Liezietsu, in the short time since taking over the helms of affairs, started to put his foot down to check corruption and malpractices in the State like back-door appointments, deduction of funds by legislators, making administration and governance transparent, attendance in office and other positive changes brought about, the NPF party resolved to appeal to the people who want positive change in the society to come together and work for the betterment of the society in the days to come," the NPF stated .
According to the NPF, alarmed that the 10th Schedule of the Constitution of India is being circumvented by unethical elements with active support of political powers that be in the country to enhance their political fortunes, the NPF has resolved to take all legal recourse to ensure that the aims and objectives of anti-defection laws as enshrined in the 91st amendment of the Constitution are upheld .
The NPF also said that it has resolved to appeal to the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative to rise above political considerations and continue to be the very embodiment of propriety and impartiality.
