Father's Day turns sorrowful for drowned farmer's children

Many children across the State are celebrating Father's Day with their families giving their best wishes to their respective fathers but the day turned sorrowful for six children of Khaochangbung village under Saikul AC, Kangpokpi district.
Paominlal alias Lalcha Sitlhou from Khaochangbung village is survived by six children.
On June 13, Paominlal, after dropping his children to school, headed for the field to work where he tried to cross the Gundung river but the strong current of the water swept him away.
Since then a massive search had been launched by members of many associations and volunteers of the neighbouring villages.
After a hectic search for six days, a decomposed male body was found floating near Thongkhong Heingang and Achanbigei bridge and on suspicion, the family and relatives rushed to the spot and confirmed it as Paominlal.
After the completion of formality at JN hospital, the family members and relatives took the body back to his village in Khaochangbung.
Hundreds of people waited for the deceased farmer at Keithelmanbi-Gopibung Lamkhai while the farmer's children waited for their father's body with pamphlets written 'Happy Father's Day' .
The family and relatives expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have tirelessly helped and assisted in searching for the farmer.
Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi district drew the attention of the local MLA, Yamthong Haokip to provide ex-gratia to the bereaved family.
