Kangpokpi, June 18 2017:
United People's Front - an umbrella organization ofKuki UG groups and a signatory party to SoO - has come out strongly against the massive operations launched at its designated camp at Natheljang in Kangpokpi.
UPF Joint Monitoring Group convener, L Sanga Hmar said that the intense operation launched by the State police and personnel of 38 Assam Rifles on the pretext of head count at UPF/KNF designated camp at Natheljang on June 15 was premeditated, ill-intentioned and total violation of the SoO ground rules.
"A massive operation was conducted in total violation of SoO ground rules against KNF, which is under Suspension of Operation agreement having a peaceful tripartite political dialogue under UPF with the State and Central Government", asserted L Sanga Hmar.
He also alleged that during the massive operation in the name of head count at Natheljang, KNF cadres were put under pressure with numerous irrelevant questions and accused of discrepancies by the State police and personnel of Assam Rifles.
On cooked up charges, 26 cadres of the KNF were arrested, he alleged.
Sanga Hmar further questioned the motive in initiating legal action against the top brass leaders of KNF who are currently under SoO and on the verge of a political solution to the vexed Kuki political issues in Manipur.
The UPF JMG convener also alleged that the episode was politically motivated with the intention to derail the peaceful process of the tripartite political talks.
The UPF also urged the State police and Central armed forces to avoid any attempt to derail the hard earned political dialogue at any cost to serve their vested interest.
