Ex-UG leader talks politics

Making a promise to the people of the Assembly segment, MI Khan, a former leader of a UG group who has stepped into the mainstream politics, has assured that Keirao Assembly Constituency would be developed to a level of an exemplary model Assembly segment.
Speaking at a simple function held in connection with installation of a newly repaired power transformer at Wangkhem under Keirao Assembly Constituency of Imphal East district today, MI Khan said that people of Wangkhem are suffering today as they have not considered seriously at the electing their representative during election.
As a consequent of reposing trust on an MLA who, inspite of being electing for two terms consecutively, could not repair a transformer which went out of order in November last year, the people of Wangkhei and those in eastern part (east of Iril river) of Keirao Assembly Constituency have to suffer various problems today.
MI Khan informed that to solve the problem of water in Wangkhem area, two hand pumps would be installed within the next two months.
Four more similar hand pumps would also be installed in Thiyam area and the construction work on the church building of Sandangsenba Maring village would be completed.
MI Khan said that there would be no let up to the developmental works to be taken up within his capacity and in accordance to the wishes of the
people.
It is said that MI Khan has donated Rs 50,000 from his own pocket towards repairing of the power transformer which was installed today.
People of Wangkhem have earlier reportedly approached the local MLA and one social activist for assistance in repairing the power transformer.
But as the efforts remained in vain, the womenfolk of Wangkhem approached MI Khan, with whose help, the transformer has been finally installed.
With Wangkhem area remained steep in underdevelopment, the people have earlier petitioned the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal East district to allow them to become voters of Andro Assembly Constituency, a chief functionary of a Youth Club based at Nongmai has informed.
