Imphal, December 30 2014:
Expressing utter shock that normal digging has been carrying on at Tombisana HS complex even after the discovery of human skulls and other skeletal remains, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded an immediate halt to digging/excavation work at the complex lest it launches different forms of agitation including closing down educational institutions.
At the same time, AMSU also conveyed its misgivings over the Govt's decision to hand over the case to the CBI, saying that not a single case handled by the CBI has been brought to its logical conclusion so far.
A team of AMSU members today visited Tombisana HS complex from where 8 human skulls and skeletons were recovered, Laishram Regan, general secretary of AMSU said.
The AMSU team led by its advisor and general secretary who visited the spot around 11.30 am today was shocked to find that digging activity was still on.
Speaking to media persons during the visit, L Regan said that the State Government should establish the truth with the help of forensic sciences experts.
Expressing shock that digging activity is carrying on even after the State Government's announcement to hand over the case to the CBI, Regan expressed suspicion that the digging work is carried on with the intention to damage or conceal further evidence.
Pointing out that the CBI was not roped in to probe the missing cases, he questioned the motive behind entrusting the CBI to probe the case now after the discovery of the skeletal remains.
He also said that not a single case entrusted to the CBI for investigation has been brought to its logical conclusion.
