After the said Bill did not feature in the Rajya Sabha, MANPAC along with other civil society organizations of the North East formed NEFIP to collectively face any move from the Government of India to enact the Bill this time.
He said that today's meeting was held to show solidarity and support to the decision taken up by the central executive council of NEFIP on September 25 at Kohima.
NEFIP had then decided to launch a massive public protest in the entire North East against the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
MANPAC has been opposing the said Bill and from time to time had launched a number of protests with the people, he said and added that it is a component of NEFIP.
Today's meeting also discussed the key strategies and steps to organise the proposed public protest successfully on October 3.The meet also deliberated on the likely impact of the Bill on the indigenous people of the North East region and the steps to be taken on how to protect the indigenous folks from the onslaught of the huge population, he added.
CAB is a means to outnumber the indigenous people in their own homeland by allowing people from different parts of the country and also from neighbouring countries to settle in the region, he added.
