Imphal, January 25 2016:
With steady improvement in the supply and distribution of LPG, the State's share in the North Eastern region's LPG market is likely to rise substantially this year.
The volume of LPG distributed till January 25 this year is greater than the volume of LPG distributed till January 25 last year.
It has been confirmed that supply and distribution of LPG has improved considerably in the State.
Out of the around 64 LPG distributors operating in the State, Misao Gas has the maximum number of consumers.
By January 23 last year, Misao Gas was able to clear bookings done on October 29, 2014 or earlier.
But this year, the distributor has so far succeeded in delivering refills to all consumers who made their bookings on December 4 or earlier.
Manipur Gas Service is another distributor which has quite a large number of consumers.
The latest date of booking given by the agency as eligible for claiming refills when it distributed refills on January 25 last year was September 23 .
But when it distributed refills on January 24 this year, the latest date of booking it notified for claiming refills was December 9 .
The latest date of booking notified by GBD Indane Service when it distributed refills on January 25 last year was September 24, 2014.But this year when it distributed refills today, the latest date of booking notified was December 12 .

The corresponding latest date of booking notified by MM Gas was October 24 .
This year, the latest dates of bookings for Athokpam Indane Service and MM Gas improved to December 1, 2015 and November 9, 2015 respectively.
It is reported that supply and distribution of LPG improved considerably since the past two/three months following concerted efforts put in by the State Government, IOC, LPG transporters and distributors.
But it still remains a big question whether the existing backlogs in terms of refill distribution can be cleared within the current month.
Even as LPG supply and distribution has improved, sale of subsidized LPG refills in grey markets seem to be rising correspondingly.
This is one area where the State Government and its law enforcing agencies need to pay special attention.
