SDRF to assess old, weak buildings

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) along with other civil department experts will assess old and weak buildings in the State as preventive measures against calamities .
This was stated by Adim Pamei, vice-chairperson of State Disaster Management Authorities during the first full uniform parade drill of SDRF today at 2nd Manipur Rifle parade ground in the presence of Ningshen Vashum, CO of 2nd MR .
Till today there is lack of manpower including properly trained personnel.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanctioned over Rs 2000 crore financial assistance after reviewing the flood situation in the North Eastern States at Guwahati .
MSDMA will assess the damages to public properties by flood in State in tandem with DCs concerned .
Adim lambasted the previous Government for rendering such an important department defunct .
In other States, Civil Defence, SDRF, DMI are given importance.
Likewise, necessary efforts would be given to ensure that it is active and vibrant from now onwards, said Adim Pamei.
He said that SDRF along with engineers and experts will start surveying old and weak buildings as a precautionary measure against earthquake or any disaster .
Commandant of 2nd Manipur Rifles Ningshen Vashum said that SDRF are raised from various State forces.
