Imphal, October 25 2013 :
As done in the case of Loktak phumdi clearance project where huge amount of money was allegedly misappropriated by a firm named K-Pro, people of Manipur would welcome with open arms if the National Human Rights Commission investigate the execution of Khuga Multipurpose Project, said CPI State Secretary Dr M Nara.
Speaking to media persons at Irabot Bhavan here today, Dr Nara said that the visit of NHRC to Imphal is a positive move.
Demanding re-activation of the Manipur Human Rights Commission, Dr Nara urged for repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur with due acknowledgement of Irom Sharmila's struggle, Justice Jeevan Reddy's recommendation.
Saying that the Khuga Multipurpose Project is unable to deliver its purposes fully, a power plant of 1.75 MW and the irrigation system which are basic components of the project still remain a big failure.
People would certainly welcome if NHRC investigate into the Khuga Multipurpose Project during the execution of which a huge amount of bill was released without doing any work, Dr Nara said.
