Imphal, April 19 2016:
People of different communities have been sharing the sorrow and happiness together since time immemorial in the State, said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
He was speaking as chief guest at the foundation day cum cultural festival of Langol Tarung today.
He said that no matter there is difference in language, tradition, costumes, food habit and culture, every citizen of the State must think him/her as a Manipuri.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Manipur was not possible without the unity of hill and valley.

Urging the people to give up community-centric notions, Gaikhangam said that the people of the current generation must not forget that different communities contributed their bit in building up a united Manipur when the State was a kingdom.
He said that there are around 85 Zeliangrong villages at different parts of the valley area of the State.
Saying that Zeliangrong people have been settling in other States as well, Gaikhangam said that Zeliangrong people were given land for settlement at different localities of valley areas by the king.
Revenue, Law and Legislative Affairs Minister I Hemochandra, PHED Minister Manga Vaiphei, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dk Korungthang and Tamenglong AC MLA Janghemlung Panmei also attended the function as president and guests of honour respectively.
In his speech, I Hemochandra said that drinking water problem being faced at Tarung village can be solved by consulting the matter to the Minister and officials concerned.
DK Korungthang stressed on the need to stand for the truth and work sincerely.
He said that there would be no peace and love without truth and sincerity.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam unveiled a memorial stone and released a souvenir.
Traditional dances and songs were presented by different cultural troupes later.
