Myanmar men held with drugs worth over Rs 55 crore

Two Myanmarese men were arrested on March 7 along with 27.930 Kgs of brown sugar and its estimated value in the international market is Rs 55.86 crore.
Acting on a specific tip off, troops of 5th Assam Rifles laid an ambush near H Munnom village along the Indo-Myanmar border on March 7 .
At around 4 am, the troops saw two men carrying three sacks on a bike (Kenbo) .
The AR troops immediately halted the bike and on checking the sacks, 648 soap cases containing brown sugar were discovered.
The 648 soap cases containing brown sugar weighed 27.930 Kgs and they were seized by the AR troops.
The two men who were transporting the drugs were also arrested and they were identified as Timma (25) s/o U Paonoe and Thara (22) s/o Y Kyaw Moe.
Both of them hail from Tamu town, Ward No 3, Myanmar.
They were later handed over to Moreh police station along with the seized brown sugar.
