World Environment day observed across State, CM leads tree plantation in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, June 06 2019: As World Environment Day was observed across the State, Chief Minister N Biren Singh planted a cinnamon plant at Sacred Higher Secondary School, Dungrei, Hungpung in Ukhrul.

During the tree plantation, N Biren Singh expressed grim concern over the fast degrading environment due to massive deforestation and the increasing water crisis across the State.

He urged everyone in Ukhrul irrespective of their community to join hands in the weeklong tree plantation campaign declared by the State Government.

He appealed the father of Sacred Hr Sec School to appoint one student for each sapling planted to take care and ensure the growth of the plant.

Forest and Environment Minister Shyam Kumar while echoing similar note, urged all to avoid deforestation.

CAFPD Minister Karam Shyam and many other took part in the plantation drive organised by SHHS as part of World Environment Day.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul organized a separate tree plantation programme at Mini Secretariat office complex Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.

All staff of DC office planted more than 100 saplings.

Senapati: Mao Students Union celebrated 2nd day of the Plantation Week at Tadubi community hall Wednesday.

Mao (Ememei) Students Union continued the Green Project at Khongnem Thana today with plantation of more than 1,000 saplings.

GreeWatch Senapati also observed the day under the theme "Beat Air Pollution" at Mini Indoor Stadium in Senapati DHQs.

Kangpokpi: ZEO Kangpokpi organized a tree plantation drive under the theme, 'Air Pollution' at S Molnom UJB School.

3rd Keithelmanbi Environment Day was also jointly organized by Keithelmanbi Youth Association and Keithelmanbi Area Auto Owners' Assn at Keithelmanbi Military Colony Cemetery near the Trans AH-1 .

Tree plantation drive was also conducted at many colleges in Kangpokpi.

Kanggui We Care (KWCare), Kangpokpi also organized a cleanliness drive in and around the catchment area of Kangpokpi river where they planted trees few years back.

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Kangpokpi district observed WED yesterday at Toribari, Kalapahar and 7 Mile.

Tamenglong: Rainforest Club of Tamenglong in collaboration with Tamenglong Forest Division, The Corbett Foundation and District Administration of Tamenglong celebrated World Environment Day by planting around 3,500 saplings in the district.

World Environment Day "Greenward Award" was given to Tamenglong Ward No 10 (Phunguang) with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with a citation for maintaining the Ward.

Tengnoupal: Tengnoupal district police led by SP Th Vikramjit, DSP Suraj, OC John Lamkang and other personnel planted trees at the police headqarter yesterday.

Eklavya Model Residential School, Chikim village, Moreh also observed the WED.

Thoubal: Ningol Club of Heirok observed the WED at Chingdongpok High School, Heirok Part-II.

Institute of Rural Education, IRE also observed the day and planted trees around IRE farm house and River View park, Wangjing.

Thoubal Municipal Council too planted saplings along Asian Highway-2.Yairipok Universal College, BYCY Club Yairipok and Waikhom Mani Girls' College also observed the day.

Kakching: All Kakching Students Union (AKSU) ended its 21 days tree plantation campaign organised in association with Kakching Municipal Council (KMC) from May 15.Kakching AC MLA Y Surchandra, KMC Chairperson N Sanjitkumar, Vice Chairperson Ksh Jhalajit,Councillors, DC Neilenthang Telien, members of Joint Non Government Voluntary Organization Kakching, AKSU and others planted saplings at Children park in Kakching garden.

Grace Cottage Academy Kakching and KMC too cleaned the road from Kakching Bazaar to Kakching Lamkhai.

Alliance for Development Alternatives-Manipur (ADAM) Kakching and Management Committee-Angaan Ching Eco Park, Kakching also observed the WED at Angaan Ching Eco Park Heritage Complex, Kakching.

Range Forest Office Kakching also observed the day at Irengband High School.

Langmeidong Higher Secondary School, Kakching Khunou College teaching, non-teaching staff, NSS Unit and students planted trees.

Bharat Swabhiman Trust Patanjali Yoga Samiti Kakching district in association with Kakching Dramatic Union and Library and Information Centre Kakching also observed the day.

In connection with WED, Kakching Ward no 7 Ward Development Committee installed 17 dustbins in the wards.

Churachandpur: The Subsidiary Training Centre, BSF CCpur planted more than 500 saplings of fruit bearing trees within their campus.

Troops from the STC BSF CCpur and 113 Battalion BSF took part in the exercise.

The event was led by IK Mehta, Inspector General, STC BSF CCpur.

Noney: Members of BJP ST Morcha Manipur State and BJP ST Morcha, Noney/Tml Dist with Longmai (Noney) Dist Administration and Eco Club members Longmai Dist & local youth planted saplings at Longmai Part-1, cemetery and roadside.

Relief & Development Department RNBA, also planted more than 50 Perkia (Yongchak) trees at RNBA Resource Centre Longmai-2.WED was observed at Bishnupur, Jiribam and other places across the State.
