Demanding identification of the main culprit of Tulihal Airport drug haul and immediate sending off of Indian Army from Manipur, sit-in-protests were staged today.
On the other hand, volunteers of Working Group of Meira Paibi Movement, Manipur today tried to throng Tulihal Airport to talk over the issue of frequent seizure of drugs from the airport.
Womenfolk of Changangei area staged sit-in-protest demanding finding out of the owner of the drugs seized from Imphal Airport.
The demonstrators held placards that read as 'Identify the owner of drugs', 'Check smuggling in of drugs through air route' and 'Avert civil war which may cause due to drug smuggling' .
Working Group of Meira Paibi Movement, Manipur staged another sit-in-protest at the ground of Young Pioneer Club, Changangei Makha Leikai.
Alleging that Indian Army is indulged in drug smuggling in the State which may deteriorate the moral character of youths, the agitators demanded sending off of Indian Army from Manipur.
The womenfolk also demanded that the owner of the drugs seized from Imphal airport be identified at the earliest.
Later, the demonstrators tried to throng at the airport to talk over the matter with the authority of the airport.
However, security personnel manning the airport did not allow them to enter the airport complex.
Womenfolk of Hiyangthang and nearby localities staged torch rally from Hiyangthang Keithel to Langthabal Phuramakhong against drug trafficking tonight.
