National Voters day observed across State

District Election Officer, Imphal East organised the sixth National Voters Day observance programme today at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat.
As part of the observance programme, Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) was distributed to newly enrolled persons of three subdivisions of Imphal East namely Porompat, Sawombung and Keirao Bitra by the DC and SDOs.
DC of Imphal East, M Joy, SDO of Porompat, Delina and SDO of Sawombung subdivision RK Dayananda were the dignitaries present.
The National Voters Day was observed with the theme "Inclusive and Qualitative Electoral Participation" .
Addressing the newly enrolled voters, M Joy stated that the responsibility of a voter is great especially in shaping the State and Nation.
He added that everyone has equal and collective responsibility to promote democracy.

Later, the new voters took a pledge along with others present for the observation for a free, fair and peaceful election and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by consideration of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement.
Prior to the function, painting competition for school students was held.
On January 22, written quiz competition was held.
Prizes were distributed by the DC and the SDOs to winners of the painting and quiz competition.
A cash prize of Rs 3500, Rs 2500 and Rs 1500 each was presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively along with certificates.
National Voters' Day was also observed at Kuranganayani Hall, Imphal West DC complex, with ADM/ADC, Imphal West in the chair.
Administering of pledge, distribution of EPICs to newly enrolled voters of five polling stations and distribution of prizes to winners of the district level quiz competition marked the observance programme.
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal has observed the 6th National Voters' Day today.
The programme was attended by Prof Amuba Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS, Prof Ak Joy Singh, Dean (Academic), RIMS, Y Rajendra Singh, Deputy Director, RIMS, faculty members of different departments, Principal of Dental College and College of Nursing, and officials.
RIMS Director Prof S Rita led the reading of the National Voters' Day pledge during the programme.
