Two more succumb to take death toll to 238

The State's COVID-19 death toll rose to 238 after two individuals died during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, two persons aged 63 (male, Churachandpur) and 65 (female, Churachandpur) expired at Shija Hospital and Churachandpur District Hospital respectively.
In the meantime, 250 people including two personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Mother's Care, Lamjingba Hospital, Jivan Hospital, CMC, Swiss Clinic, Samaritan Hospital, Asian Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Christian Hospital, Public Hospital, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Senapati, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Babina Diagnostics.
The total positive cases is inclusive of 23 detected during targeted testing in Lilong and Wangjing-Tentha Assembly segments.
The 248 civilians who have been tested positive belong to Imphal West (69), Imphal East (106), Thoubal (40), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (5), Chandel (1), Ukhrul (3), Tamenglong (7), Churachandpur (4), Senapati (4) and Kangpokpi (5) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 356 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged.
This is inclusive of 173 backlog recovery cases reported from Shija Hospital.
As such, 183 people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (101), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (3), Lanva (2), CCC UNACCO (12), Kakching (2), JNV Chandel (14), Bal Bhavan (6), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (19), Tamenglong (13) and Kangpokpi (2) .
The cumulative figure of positive cases is 23650 (general population 20601, Central security personnel 3049.This figure includes 3038 active cases (general population 2749, Central security personnel 289) and 20374 discharged cases (general population 17618 and Central security personnel 2756) .
The recovery rate as on Monday is 86.14 per cent.
Of all the people who were tested positive today in Imphal West district, 18 belong to Kwakeithel Tiddim Ground, four to Nagamapal and six to Keishampat Leimajam Leikai while one is a staff of Raj Bhavan.
Further, 83 samples were found positive out of 372 tested today at JNIMS.
Out of 78 persons tested today in Lilong AC, nine were found infected by COVID-19 .
In Wangjing-Tentha AC, 17 persons were found positive out of 151 people tested today.
On the other hand, Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi today held a meeting with officials of Health Department and CSOs on the very low turnout seen in Wangoi AC during targeted testing for COVID-19 .
The meeting agreed to rope in local clubs under the new SOP framed by the State Government so as to ensure more people come out for COVID-19 test.
Meanwhile, two members of the Central team which has been deputed to make a field assessment of the COVID-19 situation in the State landed at Imphal today.
Ministry of Power Additional Secretary VK Dewangan who is leading the team would arrive here tomorrow.
