Imphal, June 21 2023:
Taking serious note on the claim made by leaders of a Kuki militant group under Suspension of Operation (SoO) of signing an agreement with the BJP in connection with the elections held in the state, former Congress MLA Ak Mirabai has demanded BJP to place in the public domain the pact it signed with Kuki militant groups.
Speaking in a protest held at Taobungkhok Mayai Leikai here on Wednesday, Mirabai regretted said that the BJP compromised interest of Manipur and it people to Kuki militant groups to gain some advantages.
The revelation in the UKLF chairman's missive to the NIA suggests that BJP had made an agreement with the militant group, which is now threatening the unity and integrity of Manipur.
Even though Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sar ma had rejected the claim, the Prime Minister is remaining silent on the matter.
The PM has also incommunicado over the crisis in the state while tying hands of the central security forces from taking actions against the Kuki militants.
She alleged the central security forces of allowing Kuki militants to attack Meetei civilians instead of protecting lives and properties of all the citizens.
Mirabai also highlighted how union MoS RK Ranjan and some BJP MLAs spoke about law and order failure in the state while asking the BJP government in the state the reason behind its failure to contain the violence.
Leaders of several opposition parties have been staying in Delhi to meet the PM but
he did not respond to their request and left for the US.
Considering the attitude of the Central government, people of the state are now asking if Manipur is still a part of the country and the Central government should respond to these questions, she noted.
The former MLA suggested that the government control the Kuki militants and confine them in their designated camps to enable the return of peace, which is possible only when the Kuki militants stop attacking the civilians.
