Imphal, March 27 2012:
Pointing out many discrepancies in the recruitment process of Upper Primary and Lower Primary teachers, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded the Government to withhold the results until an independent body probes the cases of irregularities.
Speaking to reporters at DESAM head office, DESAM Vice-President Moirangthem Angamba said that the results for the recruitment of 1948 Lower primary teachers and 574 Upper Primary teachers were declared on February 29 this year.
Angamba said that the selected candidates were categorised as List-A (unreserved) and List-B (reserved for OBC, SC, ST) in the result.
In this regard, he questioned why only candidates from General category were allowed to apply for List-A although it was categorised as unreserved.
Qualified candidates belonging to General, OBC, SC and ST must be allowed to apply for List-A as it was unreserved, said Angamba adding that the system was not followed in the recruitment process.
As the recruitment process was based on percentage of marks, marks for the applied candidates were declared prior to the declaration of results, he said and added that candidates were also allowed to complain and object the declared percentage of marks.
However, in some cases, marks were rectified without any complaints or objections, which clearly indicated tampering of marks, he added.
Angamba said, in Lower Primary teachers results, Roll No 80817 scored 52.3 pc in the provisional marks declaration list while his marks increased to 62.42 pc in the final list.
Like wise, percentage for Roll No 80703 increased from 57 per cent to 64 per cent, 52.4 per cent to 62.21 per cent for Roll No 80372, 59.066 per cent to 62.42 per cent for Roll No 81085 and 54.138 per cent to 63.149 for Roll No 80668 .
Maintaining that these five candidates never complained for rectification of percentage, Angamba alleged that such rectifications clearly indicated tampering of marks in the recruitment process.
He further alleged, it could not be ruled out that the Recruitment Board might have indulged in other irregularities.
Angamba urged the Government to withhold the results until an independant body thoroughly probe into the matter.
He also urged not to change the recruitment norms from time to time.
