Imphal, May 26 2014:
Complete power blackout and sweltering heat wave have thrown life out of gear in Moreh.
It is said that power supply to the border town could not be restored till date after an electric transformer broke down on May 10 .
Students are largely affected by the blackout and sweltering heat wave as they are neither able to attend classes nor concentrate on their studies, said Thomas of Centre for Social Development.
The scorching sun is adding to the misery of people in the border town as they could not venture out of their homes during day time and generally go to bed after midnight, Thomas said.
The mercury has touched 41 degree Celsius in Moreh, which is 7 degrees higher than Imphal, he added.
With temperature going up each day, many children are complaining from loose motion and vomiting.
Thomas urged authority concerned to restore power supply at the earliest taking into account inconveniences faced by the people of the border town.
