Haochong Village Authority has clarified that the firing incident which broke out at Haochong village on June 21 that left three NSCN (K) cadres and two innocent civilians death while two other NSCN (K) cadres and one ZUF cadre wounded was not between NSCN-K and ZUF cadres who were camping at Haochong village on that fateful day.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman BT Baram and Secretary Kh Nampi, Haochong Village Authority declared that after careful and thorough investigation into the firing incident of June 21, 2012, which occurred at around 2.15 am at Haochong village that left three NSCN (K) cadres and two innocent civilians killed while two other NSCN (K) cadres and one ZUF cadre wounded, it has come to light that the firing was not between NSCN (K) and ZUF cadres who were camping at Haochong village on that fateful day.
The rumour and false propaganda created against NSCN (K) and ZUF cadres was baseless and unfounded.
It was slip of tongue of the angry mob, who were emotive over the death of two innocent villagers in that incident, the village authority said in its statement, while clarifying that some of the press notes appeared in local papers over the incident were also not the version of the village authority.
As per the knowledge of Haochong villagers, there was no drunkard bawl among the cadres on that day, the statement added.
The statement further informed that the misunderstanding between the villagers and the cadres of NSCN (K), ZUF and NNC had been sorted out in the presence of Zeliangrong Union (AMN) President and his colleagues.
Accordingly, mutual underatanding and negotiation as per Zeliangrong customary law and practices was arrived at Longmai Part-3 on July 20 .
