As part of moral polishing drive, volunteers of Ningol Khongchat Lup (NKL) today checked several restaurants located in the outskirts of Imphal city.
The volunteers of the Lup led by its secretary, K Lodangleima first visited the restaurants located on the NH-39 from Chumbreikhong to Koirengei.
During the checking visit, two lovers were found in a compromising position at the Moonlight Restaurant located at Luwangshangbam.
On seeing the scene, the volunteers ransacked furniture of the restaurant.
The two lovers caught red-handed were later handed over to their respective parents and guardians.
At Likla Fast Food located at Ghari also, a teenager boy and girl were found in compromising position.
They were also caught and handed over to their parents after calling them.
Most of the restaurants raided today were found keeping the rooms dark even though window ventilations were there.
Many condoms used recenly were also found lying on the ground as well as in dustbins at some restaurants.
Talking to reporters during the drive, Secretary Liodangleima observed that 80 % of the women related crimes in the state originated in restaurants.
Dark rooms have been a favourable place for indulging in immoral activities for young girls and boys.
The Lup conducted the drive after they had asked the restaurants to follow some rules laid down by them, she said, announcing that the two restaurants, Moonlight at Luwangshangbam and Likla Fast Food have been closed down until they restructure the cabins as per the regulations laid by the Lup.
