NAB, Customs seize drugs, apprehend three

Imphal, August 17 2021:
A team of NAB police station on Monday apprehended two drug traffickers with 24.07kg of WY tablets from near the gate of Mantripukhri New Secretariat Building along NH-2 .
The arrested drug traffickers have been identified as Md Abdul Joynul (49) s/o Md Abdul Jabar of Kwakta Makha Leikai and a 19-year-old youth.
According to a police report, the team conducted a search operation near the gate ofthe New Secretariat on Monday around 4.30 pm.
During the operation, a Tata truck (NL-01G-7464) was halted and checked, wherein around 24.07 kg of WY tablets were recovered.
The driver of the truck, Md Abdul Joynul, was then arrested along with the 19-year old youth.
A case has been registered by NAB PS in this regard, the report added.
Meanwhile, sleuths of Customs Division Imphal Anti-Smuggling Unit recovered 50,000 amphetamine tablets weighing about 5 kg from one HL Shonkhongam Mate at Kakching Lamkhai on Tuesday 9:30 am.
According to a report issued by superintendent (A/S) P Roben Singh, officers of the Anti-Smuggling Unit acting on specific information intercepted one person carrying a blue colour cement bag labelled 'Dulux Polyputty'.
On searching the cement bag, the officers found three brown coloured packets labelled '3030 Export Quality' and two black colour packets containing 50,000 amphetamine tablets with an estimated value of Rs 5 crore.
Shonkhongam Mate (31), s/o HL Khalkholun Mate of Tengnoupal Bazar in Tengnoupal district has been arrested under relevant section of NDPS Act, 1985.Further investigation is under way to nab other offenders in the case, the report said.
