MOMA procures 10.5 MT melon, 8 MT tomato

Under the government's initiative of addressing the issue of farm product wastage face by the food producers due to the Covid-19 induced curfew, Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) has procured 10.5 MT of watermelon and 8 MT of tomatoes from farmers in different parts of the state on Sunday.
A team of MOMA led by its project director K Debdutta Sharma procured 5.5 MT of watermelon from farmers in Sangaithel area, 5 MT of watermelon from farmers of Lamboikhul, Uyumpok and surrounding villages in Khundrakpam AC, and 8 MT of tomatoes from farmers of Kangmong area and started the service of home delivery of the fresh farm products to the people on Sunday itself.
Debdutta said that MOMA will procure farm products from the farmers, who are facing difficulties in marketing their products during the pandemic, and then provide the same to the people of the state via home delivery service.
He also appealed to the people of the state to support the initiative of MOMA and help in resolving the problem of farmers.
