Subtlety of 'Maram Nungsetpa Khousa' displayed

A martial art demonstration 'Maram Nungsetpa Khousa' was organized by Kanglei Enat Thang-Ta Shindam Sanglen, Kongpal Chanam Leikai at CC Higher Secondary School hall here on Friday.
CC Higher Secondary School Principal S Indrani Devi, Thang-Ta master S Nodiya Mangang and North east Zonal Cultural Centre, Dimapur member Kh Momon were the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively on the occasion.
Delivering the keynote address, Thang-Ta teacher of Kanglei Enat Thang-Ta Shindam Sanglen Ebungo Macha Meitei said the traditional weapon-based Thang-Ta martial art form of the Meitei is divided into two categories as "Nung" and "Pan." The Nung Pan form of the martial art refers to fighting with sword, bow and arrow, spear, shield and other weapons handy to the fighters during war, he said.
In the case of Nung form, ways of prayer and discipline are strictly maintained, Ebungo Macha explained.
He underlined the need for keeping up proper moral discipline and etiquette in shaping a society.
S Indrani Devi in her speech described the event as an important part of moral discipline lesson imparting session.
She promised to persuade the State Government in its efforts to introduce Thang-Ta class in educational institutions and emphasized the need for learning refined ethical lessons from Thang-Ta art by young students.
