Imphal, November 13 2018:
Domestic Violence Survivors Forum, Manipur, has alleged that a woman who is the victim of domestic violence, has been forced to experience suffering again due to the conduct of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Thoubal and Thoubal police.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the forum's president Thoibi Naorem said that one Sagolsem (N) Soibam (O) Bijenti (37) of Papal Sangaikhong returned to her parental home around two and a half years back due to domestic violence.
After the husband, identified as Punshiba, declined a request by Bijenti for custody of their 4 year old son, she filed a complaint to the authority concerned but the authorities also failed to ease her suffering and instead turned on her, Thoibi claimed.
She explained that on October 3, Bijenti approached CWC Thoubal to enable her to meet her son but her complaint fell on deaf ears.
Undeterred, Bijenti approached MCPCR on October 11 following which MCPCR decided to let her meet her son on October 25 .
However, when the day came, CWC Thoubal and Khongjom police delayed in bringing Bijenti's son and when they finally brought him, it was already dark.
Thoibi continued that when the authorities concerned brought Bijenti's son he had a mask on his face and claimed that during the meeting, the police took a photo of the meeting at a moment when Bijenti's son was turning away from her which was then submitted as a report claiming that the boy did not want to meet Bijenti.
Informing that Bijenti had even already applied for permission to conduct psychological test of her son, Thoibi added that with no one to turn to for help, Bijenti approached the forum.
She also appealed to the CM and the Social Welfare Minister for every possible help regarding the matter at the earliest.
