State Library Week Celebration concludes

Proper guidance of children in right direction is essential in order to flourish the society, said Works Minister Dr Ksh Ratankumar during the closing ceremony of State Library Week Celebration organized by Educational Guide Centre (EGC) at its premises located at Singjamei here yesterday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Ratankumar observed that library is the centre of knowledge, while adding that it is in library where valuable books which are difficult to find in market are kept.
He stated that students should adopt reading habit in library to gain valuable knowledge and understand the importance of library.
Information and knowledge could also be gained from internet but following habit of reading is the best way to increase knowledge and idea, the Minister noted.
MP Dr Meinya who presided over the function underlined the need for enhancing infrastructure in education sector in the State which is lagging behind as compared with other States.
Lauding the initiative taken up Educational Guide Centre to avail library facilities to students, the MP called upon the people to understand the pivotal role played by library in the society.
As part of the programme, a quiz competition for children was conducted.
