'BCM election must be quashed'

Notice has been served to all concerned on Monday by High Court of Manipur after the court heard a case related to the election for Bar Council of Manipur (BCM) held on April 4 last.
A petition filed by one Khangembam Opendra Meitei in the High Court of Manipur contended that the BCM election was unconstitutional and illegal.
The motion hearing in the case was conducted by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra and Justice Kh Nobin.
The bench then issued notice to 29 respondents in the case�Registrar General of the Manipur High Court and all the candidates who had contested the election, according to the petitioner.
The notice asked the respondents to reply within one week's time as to why the election should not be declared 'null and void.' The petition said the BCM Election Rules 2015 was formulated against the Advocate Acts, 1961 .
The election was not conducted as per the guidelines of the Advocate Acts, 1961 and the Bar Council of India, it challenged.
It demanded that the election must be quashed as it violated the norms of proportional representation system.
